Initial Story
Five24 members Michael Liang, Oswin Wong and Ethan Choi is proud to have collaborated with rising artist Jun Lee or J.L on his latest single: Twisted Love. A song about Jun realizing that the girl he has been talking to actually has a boyfriend and while the situation gets complicated and twisted, his love still persists and is adamant on pursuing this girl no matter the circumstances.
Retro Locations
Jun explained that he wanted his MV to feel retro like. So we decided we would film at 4 locations - a telephone booth, an arcade, a old-styled diner, and his house.
Retro Aesthetic
In the early 2000's, kids would actually go to arcade locations to play games with friends, so we brought back that idea of going out and playing games with a girl at an arcade. With the colourful lights, we were sure that the bokeh on the camera would look fantastic. We had other ideas like a roller skating rink, but it was difficult to find in London ON. To further enhance the retro style, we decided we'd also film everything on a digital camcorder to get that grainy feel.

Leveraging my graphic design skills, I designed a stylized cover built from continuous line art, supported by a bold color palette of black, red, and blue.
Team Take-away
This MV was truly a new experience for the team. We had never directed one before, but we can say confidently now that Five24 can make good MV videos for music artist,s and hopefully this opens up more doors to future clients who are looking for cinematic film like MVs. Definitely a fun experience.
