Ripples About
In July 2024, the Five24 team — a group of high schoolers with a whole summer ahead of us — decided to make the most of it. We created Ripples — a Taekwondo short film that took months of planning, directing, and coordination to bring to life.

About the Story
Ripples is an introspective/action film about the pressures of not being the best at a certain discipline, using skipping stones as a metaphorical picture of the connections and influences of humans rippling off each other. Kain, a talented taekwondo student and the son of Master Choi, is suddenly met with competition when a new, evenly-matched student, Parker. As Kain tries to compete for the top spot at his dojo, he discovers the consequences of an unhealthy work-life balance with his friends, family, and mental health.

Kain - The Main Actor
I had the opportunity to play the lead role, Kain, and also work alongside Parker Corner — an industry-recognized actor known for roles in major productions like The Boys. Filming throughout the summer was such a blast. Beyond the scenes and stunts, it was an unforgettable team-building experience.

Ripples Premiere
We had the honor of premiering Ripples on YouTube and in partnership with the youth group Bridging Generations at their Connected Through Arts Event — a perfect way to share our work with the community.
Locations
We filmed across three locations: MusslesMan lake for the lake scenes, Martial Arts.ca Dojo for the Tae-Kwon-Do Scenes, and Manna Kitchen - a family friends restraunt that we were generously was given access to.
