Krunker Season 7 Trailer - Commissioned Animation

About this Project:

I'm so proud to have worked on the Official S7 Trailer for Krunker. This was one of my most ambitious projects. For context, at the time, Krunker was declining in popularity, and more and more users began to be frustrated at the sedentary state of the game. Players needed something to love for this game again. After meetings with the developers, we came to the conclusion that the community needs a story within the game itself. A cinematic universe, and the trailer could create that story-based world for the game to get players invested again. So, I was on a journey to create the most cinematic easter-egg induced trailer the game community has ever seen. This was the first ever season trailer Krunker would ever be officially releasing, and it was up to me (a 15-year-old) to help revive the game

The First Scene

This scene was heavily inspired by Arcane's "Welcome to the Playground Scene". The camera starts behind some sewage pipes and dark rocks and horizontally moves downard into a distopian under-ground world with holograms and night markets. This establishing shot had to be extraordinary, while keeping the block-like aesthetic. This scene had over 1000+ objects within the animation software. Even the window panes had the tiniest details added to them.

Futuristic + Dystopian

This cinematic render was a mix of Blade Runner holograms and futuristic dystopia, so I had to make all technology look futurustic. From the handheld tracking device to the helmets and neon glowed weapons, to color, everything was carefully designed with percision to abide to the aesthetic.

Stylistic Textures

Here you can see me attempting to iplement the sketch like texture style that is commonly seen in Arcane, and Spiderverse. This style gives the vibe of the film to be like a living sketch rather than a 3D animation. Although, I might have not achieved that effect entirely, it gives the cinematic a more alive and creative approach.

Applications

I also took Marvel film Iron Man's helmet as a reference. In the scene below, the audience gets a glimpse of the character (aka the KPD) inside the helmet. So I decided I would add a holographic UI to resemble Iron Man's Helmet.
